Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC’s original Shark Tank investors. Since her inception she has appeared on each seasons of Shark Tank. In February 2020 Corcoran had signed 53 deals, the most significant being a $350,000 deal that covered 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran, who was the second of 10 children from a family of Irish Catholics who worked hard, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence was her mother, who was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved between jobs and another throughout Corcoran's youth. Sometimes, the family relied on deliveries of free food from a local grocery store. Corcoran states that her father was a drunken man who was rude to her mother and condescension. Corcoran was a troubled pupil throughout her schooling. She later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was educated in an Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. After failing several courses in her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she received a grade of D.
